Wilmington, N.C., October 2, 2014: The “Sleepy Heads” are coming! The “Sleepy Heads” are coming! Fans of Fox Television’s popular weekly series “Sleepy Hollow” (a.k.a. “Sleepy Heads”) have been coming to Wilmington, North Carolina since the show debuted in 2013. Why Wilmington? Because: Wilmington, North Carolina is television’s “Sleepy Hollow.” Riding on the coattails of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman and just in time for Fall and Halloween travel, the Wilmington and Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announces a free SLEEPY HOLLOW FAQ Sheet to facilitate visiting fans of the show. Visitors can also book a Halloween getaway with special October rates: http://tinyurl.com/FallSpecialRates.
Visitor interest in “Sleepy Hollow’s” stars and locations has been steadily on the rise since its first season. To coincide with its second season premiere in late September, the CVB developed a Sleepy Hollow FAQ Sheet in response to the uptick in visitor interest. The self-guided tour includes Season 1 locations and will be updated as Season 2 episodes air, focusing on locations that are easily accessible and open to the public and/or those that welcome exterior photography.
The Sleepy Hollow FAQ Sheet follows the same format as its predecessors, answering six questions on a one-page handout, printed on front and back. In 1999, the CVB developed a Dawson’s Creek FAQ Sheet in response to an influx of calls over spring break. The Wilmington and Beaches CVB Communications/PR Director Connie Nelson refers to the hundreds of inquiries the visitor information center received that spring as the “Dawson’s Creek Phenomenon.” Ten years following the end of the show’s six-season run, the Dawson’s Creek FAQ Sheet is still in demand with more than 18,000 distributed at Wilmington visitor information centers. Similarly, the One Tree Hill FAQ Sheet remains popular long after the show wrapped its ninth and final season in 2012. To date, more than 9,000 One Tree Hill FAQ Sheets have been distributed to visiting fans. The CVB is hopeful that the Sleepy Hollow FAQ Sheet will experience similar success. All three FAQ Sheets are available on the destination’s website: www.wilmingtonandbeaches.com/news-articles.

“Our television FAQ Sheets are designed as simple and useful tools to help maximize the visitor ‘Hollywood East’ experience,” states Nelson. “Our Visitor Information Specialists hear many of the same questions from fans. Naturally, everyone wants to know where the shows were filmed, so the FAQ sheets include self-guided tours that can serve as a mini-guide to easily accessible locations. There’s also information on how to become a background actor, details about studio tours and location walks, and where to buy film-related merchandise.”
Free SLEEPY HOLLOW FAQ Sheets are available at Wilmington Visitor Information Centers and online at www.WilmingtonAndBeaches.com/SleepyHollowFAQ. Visitors interested in film/TV productions can also experience “Hollywood East” with weekend walking tours of EUE/Screen Gems Studios (call to confirm tour dates/times: 910-343-3500; http://studios.euescreengems.com/nc/tours/). There’s also the Hollywood Location Walk, a guided walking tour of Downtown movie/TV locations (910-794-1866; www.hollywoodnc.com).
