The Third Annual Island Day is back by popular demand. The event will be held on Sunday, September 30th from 1pm to 5pm at the Carolina Beach Lake. This year’s event is sponsored by the Carolina Beach Arts & Activities Committee, and is a cooperative effort between the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce, Boardwalk Makeover Group, and the Police, Fire, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation Departments of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach.
This event is a good opportunity to slow down, relax and get reacquainted with your neighbors that live on Pleasure Island. The event is free, fun and family oriented. There will be food, music, games, island information, art and more. We are seeking applications from businesses and community organizations to participate in this event.
More information will follow as the event nears. If you are interested in volunteering or participating in the event, please contact Lani Thompson at the Carolina Beach Parks and Recreation Center at (910) 458-7416. Additional information on the event and an application to participate as a vendor can be found at www.carolinabeach.org.
Here is a video we made that contains some photos from the 2010 Island Day celebration. The 2010 event was almost cancelled due to record rainfall just prior to the event being held. Video: Rain Won't Dampen the Pleasure Island Spirit
