Video: Helicopter Aids in Early Morning July 1st Swimmer Rescue at Wrightsville Beach

At 2:00 mark, helicopter descends to drop rescue flotation device. At 3:45, light stays on swimmers. Rescue was initiated because intoxicated individual decided to go for a late night swim in Wrightsville Beach.

Descript from video: Southeastern Airborne Law Enforcement (SABLE) helicopter was requested by Wrightsville Beach PD to assist in locating swimmers who had been lost from view. SABLE arrived in the area, spotted two swimmers from the air, swimming 100yds out, Crew illuminated them with the searchlight, then dropped to 10 feet, allowing the TFO to deploy the "throw stick" inflatables. One was caught after inflation, the second was not, so the pilot maneuvered the aircraft to use the rotor wash to push the float to the second swimmer. The SABLE crew then maintained the searchlight on them, along with the rescue swimmer approaching, until Coast Guard Wrightsville Beach boat unit arrived to take the swimmers aboard.
