A bobcat was spotted near Carolina Sands last week. A resident stated that he took his dog out at 5:30am and spotted a bobcat in his neighbor's backyard. The cat jumped up on a fence and they stared at each other for about 30 seconds before it ran off.
The resident messaged us on Facebook with the info because he wanted to let folks know so they could keep an eye on their pets.
Per the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission, the NC Coastal Plains and mountain areas support the largest numbers of bobcats in the state. You can read more at the NCWRC website.
