Star News: Amid debate on ferry fare, some fear ripple effect

Businesses, tourist attractions and residents on both sides of the Cape Fear River worry that an increase in tolls on the Southport-Fort Fisher ferry will hurt bottom lines, attendance numbers and family budgets...

When the new prices take effect, Southport-Fort Fisher ferry riders – car and driver – will pay $10 each way, up from $5. Plus, each additional passenger in vehicles will pay $2 each way. Passengers currently don't pay extra. Motorcyclists, bicyclists and pedestrians also will pay more.
