FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) -- The area around Folly Beach County Park was evacuated on Tuesday evening so that two WWII era mortar shells found in the sand could be safely detonated...
Folly Beach Director of Public Safety Dennis Brown said beachgoers found the mortars at around 2:45 on Tuesday afternoon. Lifeguards were notified and calls to Folly Beach public safety and fire offices followed. In turn, the Charleston County bomb squad, the SLED bomb squad and the U.S. Air Force were called to the scene....
