Now this is just plain cool! A park ranger found a bottle, dated from the 1800's, along the shores of the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area. When you consider the age, it's hard to imagine that it would be in such good condition.
Major kudos to the park ranger for this very cool find. I look forward to seeing it on display at the park's visitor center.

"Another interesting find by one of our rangers -- this spirits bottle from the early 1800s was discovered along the shoreline at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area. The Underwater Archaeology Center at the Fort Fisher Historic Site helped us identify it and put on a protective coating so it can be displayed in our visitor center."
