Carolina Beach & Kure Beach Experiencing High Growth

The Wilmington Star News has done a great job of breaking down the recent census information and have posted an interactive data map on their website. Here's a breakdown of the three beach towns in New Hanover County.

The Town of Carolina Beach has seen a 21.38% growth in population since 2000. In 2000, there were 4,701 residents and in 2010, the number of residents increased to 5,706.

The Town of Kure Beach has seen a 33.51% growth in population since 2000. In 2000, there were 1,507 residents and in 2010, the number of residents increased to 2,012.

The Town of Wrightsville Beach has seen a 4.47% decrease in population since 2000. In 2000, there were 2,593 residents and in 2010, the number of residents decreased to 2,477.

Based solely on a personal observation, I have noticed more new homes being built in the last 12 months than I've seen in some time. It appears that people are beginning to take advantage of this real estate market to finally get their dream home at the beach. I can fully understand why many are choosing Pleasure Island as it has so much to offer compared to many other NC beach locations.
