Kure Beach Lifeguard Sets Surfing World Record

For anyone waiting for followup to the earlier blog post about the Kure Beach Lifeguard Thomas Cannon's world record surfing attempt, well, he made it. Unfortunately, he was not able to reach his 24 hour goal due to weather issues but nonetheless, he was able to continually surf for over 15 hours thus setting a world record.

Now it should be told, that he is the first person to pursue this marathon surfing attempt so in effect, once he began, the record was set. But he did set a high benchmark for future attempts and for that, he deserves a round of applause.

In the article at GWU Today, Mr. Cannon suggested that he may be the first one to have a go at his own record as he still wants to break the 24 hour mark.
