Vendors from Ocean Isle to Virginia are headed to Carolina Beach for this weekend’s first-ever Carolina Beach Farmers’ Market, which opens Saturday, April 24, at Carolina Beach Lake on Lake Park Boulevand.

“Response from the arts community is huge,” said organizing committee member Janet Knott, noting that they are limiting arts vendors to make room for produce vendors. “We’re having to turn people away and rotate what we’ll accept.”

About 25 to 30 vendors each week from New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender and Columbus counties will offer baked items, peanut butter, free-range eggs, free-range chicken, pork, beef, goat and rabbit. And, she added, there’s one headed from Virginia for the market.

Later in the season, fresh shrimp will be offered. They also expect natural soaps and candles as well as hand made furniture. Beach Road Community Farm will bring produce from all its growers. Bannerman Winery and Silver Coast Winery are also expected there. ..
