Diving Carolina Wrecks...and spotting a few sharks along the way

Check out this excellent blog account of a west coast diver who came out east to check out North Carolina wrecks. Both his photos and narrative truly make you want to immediately head out and take in a dive.

Video: Visiting Zeke's Island on a SUP

Here's a cool video of a father SUP'ing to Zeke's Island with his sons. The island is on the Cape Fear River side of the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area. He was nice enough to send it my way for posting. As an added bonus, he selected some great music to go with the video. Enjoy!

A Black Bear Has Taken Up Residence in Landfall

The Security at Landfall sent out a taped telephonic message to all residents of Landfall (located across the bridge from Wrightsville Beach) approximately two days ago warning residents of a black bear that had been spotted roaming Landfall. They stated that the NC Wildlife Resource Commission has advised them that a relocation permit will not be issued and that Landfall is most likely a temporary resting place and that he/she will move on shortly

I've seen news stories about black bears on the mainland side of the Outer Banks but this is the first I've heard of a black bear this close to the coast in Wilmington.

You can hear the taped message from security here.
