WITN-TV7: 100's of Sharks Invade the Crystal Coast

Ft. Macon, NC: A local photographer captured hundreds of sharks swimming off our coast Wednesday morning off Carteret County.

Scott Taylor of Beaufort was on a shoot when the helicopter he was riding in passed between Shackleford Banks and Fort Macon off the Crystal Coast in NC.

sharksThe photos show hundreds of sharks swimming in the group. Taylor said the helicopter pilot remarked he sees them all the time.

Taylor said when the helicopter dipped down for a closer look, the sharks seemed to be about four to six feet long...

No worries, these sharks are harmless.

They are in the water but you typically can't see them. I've had a couple come by me while on a paddle board and if it wasn't for my childhood memory of "Jaws", I would have been fine. They had no interest in me or what I was doing.

I suppose they also serve as a 'motivator' in helping keep one from falling off the board.
