This Saturday is Park Day and the Fort Fisher State Historical Site needs volunteers to help with grounds maintenance, landscaping and the moving of a sand fence. The Boy Scouts have generously volunteered to take care of the larger tasks but there is a need for volunteers to help with lighter work.
Park Day is an annual event sponsored by the Civil War Preservation Trust and the History Channel. The goal is to bring Civil War enthusiasts together in an effort to help keep our nation's Civil War sites and parks in top shape.
Fort Fisher volunteers will receive a Civil War Preservation Trust Park Day T-shirt and a patch. In addition, volunteers will receive free drinks and lunch which will be provided at the site. (Note: Because T-shirts & patches needed to be pre-orderd, supplies are limited)
