Painter Kristin Gibson is settling in just fine at Spectrum Art Gallery, which just added her to their list of represented artists. Gibson and friends are working on something completely new coming up May 16th. “It’s going to be called the Big Print Block Party!” Gibson says. “It will be a steamroller-powered woodcut printmaking event in Carolina Beach.
Visiting artists from NYC—along with local artists like Jennifer Page, Fritzi Huber, Kristin Gibson, Robert Pleasants, Jeremy Millard, Rebecca Jones, Todd Carignan and Matt Dols—will be creating 4-by-8 giant wood-block carvings to be printed by a steamroller, live, during the event. Early origins of wood-block printing developed on fabric, so as a fabric designer and painter who studied traditional means of (small) wood-block printing for textiles, this oversized contemporary spin is really exciting.”
