Kure Beach, NC - In honor of Veterans Day, the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher offers free admission to all visitors on Tuesday, November 11. The Aquarium will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The three North Carolina Aquariums waive admission fees for all visitors twice a year – on Nov. 11 for Veterans Day, and on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday in January. The Aquariums have designated free admission days each year since 1994 to assure that everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the facilities.
The other state-operated Aquariums are at Fort Fisher, near Kure Beach, and on Roanoke Island, near Manteo. The Aquariums, under the North Carolina Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources, work together to inspire appreciation and conservation of North Carolina’s aquatic environments.
Usual admission fees are $8 for adults, $7 for ages 62 and over and $6 for ages 6-17. Admission is free for children 5 and under, for North Carolina schoolchildren visiting in registered school groups and for members of the North Carolina Aquarium Society, a membership-based organization providing support for the three Aquariums.
